Her most well-known work is her roles in Spamalot's West End revival, the Regent's Park revival of Into the Woods as well as The Wizard of Oz (as the Wicked Witch of the West). For her work she has been nominated three time for the Olivier Award. She was cast as Septa Unella in Game of Thrones' fifth season in the year 2015. In 2015, she also starred as an ensemble member in Les Miserables' 2012 adaptation and Winter Ridge as a primary character. Waddingham was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. Since 2020, she has played the role as Rebecca Welton in the Apple TV+ comedy show Ted Lasso and has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the field of Comedy Series and the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022.
